Through workshops at various industries Shyamal could enrich knowledge of the engineers and operators, so as to select and operate the Air Pollution Control Systems properly to achieve their best possible stable performance. The net result is to maintain healthy working atmosphere for the workers and the machines leading to their quality out put.
The workshops carried out till now were quite successful and the participants are utilizing their newly gained knowledge for proper operation and maintenance of their existing Air Pollution Control Systems. The Organizers of the workshop are quite happy with the results they are getting.
Academic conferences and class-rooms of Universities are also venues where results of Shyamal's on-the-job R&D activities in Industrial Air Pollution Control found relevance. Students of Economics, Chemistry, Bioscience & Environmental Engineering are specially benefited in their research activities from the deliberations of Shyamal.

After successful commissioning of a modified Dust Extraction plant in Thailand a workshop was conducted for the operators and engineers with closer interactions for proper operation and maintenance of the system to achieve consistency in its improved performance.
August 2008 workshop
A workshop on Electrostatic Precipitation Technology was carried out by Shyamal on August 26 & 27, 2008 . This was a workshop for dust extraction system using Electrostatic Precipitation Technology, where Shyamal started with the basics of the Technology. He then gave the details of the developments made through modernization of Mechanical features as well as Electrical Power Supply& Electronic Control aspects.
To achieve better performance from the existing ESPs through better charging, Shyamal suggested that any of the following modernization aspects can be used, based on the basic design of the existing ESP and the type of application:
1) Multiprocessor based controller,
2) Insulated gate bipolar transistor,
3) High frequency Transformer Rectifier Set

July 2008 workshop
A workshop was carried out for their operators and engineers on July 29 & 30, 2008 by Shyamal Ghosh in order to enrich the knowledge of the participants so as to achieve the best possible stable performance and also to continuously explore the possibilities of further improvement of all the existing system.

April 2006 workshop
Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. organized a Workshop on Air Pollution Control at Raigarh on April 13-14, 2006. It was a grand success.
Commencing with the basics & the alarming global scenario due to the serious effects of uncontrolled Air Pollution, Shyamal covered various practical aspects of design, proper operation as well as maintenance of the Air Pollution Control Systems. Comparative studies were also made among various equipments for similar applications. The workshop concluded with discussions on the New Generation A P C Equipment.

Usha Martin Limited, Jamshedpur (India) organized a seminar on Air Pollution Control during November 23 to 25, 2006. The subjects covered by Shyamal were:
1) Cause & (Dangerous) Effects of GLOBAL WARMING,
2) Basics of system design for Industrial Air Pollution Control,
3) Performance improvement of existing Air Pollution Control Systems,
4) Proper Selection, Operation & Maintenance of Bag Filters in industries.

This was a workshop for a small group of technical people of a Floor Mill in Bangalore.
Even the small bag filters used in the production line of floor mills can give best performance if the old equipment are modernized and the operators are trained properly.
The State of Jharkhand in India is blessed with huge natural resources (minerals, forests, water sources, energy sources, fertile lands etc.), which have placed the State amongst the prosperous and developed states of India. The State Government has identified industrial growth as the key thrust area in the development of the State. However, industrial growth should not cause damage to the environment leading to unsustainable economic development. Environment cannot support such economic growth forever. With this background Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) in association with The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) organized a seminar on June 05, 2009 on the occasion of World Environment Day with the theme "Air Pollution Control and Clean Development Mechanism".
Mr. Shyamal Ghosh was invited to address in the seminar and share his views on the topic titled "Industrial Air Pollution Control for Sustainable Economic Growth".
The interactions Mr. Ghosh had with the representatives of the existing industries during his deliberation were quite encouraging. It seems that most of the industries have understood the importance of proper Air Pollution Control so as to achieve sustainable economic growth.
Shyamal participated in a conference on Energy & Economic Growth: The Emerging Prospects & Policies (during Dec.04-06, 2008) at the department of Economics, Sri Sathya Sai University, Prasanthi Nilayam, Anantapur (Andhrapradesh), India .
His research paper on Energy Vis-a-vis Environment with special emphasis on Air Pollution Control for sustainable Economic Growth was presented on December 04, 2008.
Shyamal Ghosh visited Sri Satya Sai University, Prasanthi Nilayam from February 17 to 25, 2009 as visiting faculty on the International Environmental Scenario. He carried out in depth deliberations to the Post Graduate as well as the under graduate students of Economics, Chemistry and Bioscience departments. He clarified the basics of the subject before going into the serious aspects of Ozone Depletion, Global Warming and the Climate Change.
He communicated to them the results of the recent international studies on the subject. He also shared his 32 years experience in this field. He recommended performance improvement of the old inefficient Air Pollution Control Plants of all the industries as well as inclusion of the Carbon dioxide absorption system for the emission from all the coal based thermal power plants to achieve sustainable economic growth.
As explained by Shyamal, the above activities will reduce drastically the suspended solid particulates as well as the Carbon dioxide from the Industrial Emissions so as to reduce the rate of increase in Global Warming as well as the Climate Change.
Shyamal carried out deliberations on Air Pollution Control systems at chemical and pharmaceutical plants for the students of Bioscience and Chemistry departments. He also carried out deliberations on Global Warming and Climate Change in Indian perspective for the students of Bioscience and Chemistry departments. Shyamal gave support / guidance to an M.Phil. Economics student for the preparation of a thesis on the Integration of Policy Framework in Energy Sector.
Click for detailsShyamal carried out Environmental classes at Sri Sathya Sai University for the Bioscience students. Various Air Pollution Control equipment and Systems that can be used by utilizing Biotechnology to Control Industrial Air Pollution were discussed in details. He also carried out a Technical Session for the MBA and MBF students on "Climate Discipline with an eye to the forthcoming Copenhagen Conference on UN Frame Work Convention on Climate Change". He shared with the students his long experience in this field as well as the outcome of his recent interaction with some international experts in this field. All the students of the department as well as the Professors and the Principal attended the technical session. The film CLIMATE CHANGE-AN UNTOLD STORY produced under UK Environment Film Fellowships 2005, was screened as a part of the technical session. That evoked some extremely interesting conversations about the human and spiritual sides of this otherwise technical issue.
